Great news to start 2012! Next month my studio will move to the creative and cutural building Volkskrantgebouw on the Wibautstraat in Amsterdam. I will share a studio on the 6th floor, just one floor down from Club Canvas! Can't wait to start working with a view over the city.

Every year on 6th of August, the City of Hiroshima holds a Peace Memorial Ceremony to console the victims of the atomic bombs and to pray for the realization of lasting world peace. In the evening a Lantern ceremony is held to send off the spirits of the victims with lanterns floated on the waters of the Motoyasu River. The illustration i made of the 'Hiroshima Lantern Ceremony' will be shown on the 58th Fine Art PEACE Exhibition, 8-18 September at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse No1 in Yokohama.

This cute blue character i designed for a project that motivates homeless and people that recover from addiction to do sports, to help them to return to society. Fenna Westerdiep of DAVstudio did the design of the logo type and the production of this project.

'Tridio' is a game for young kids to learn about geometric shapes and making series. For 'Productief' -a Dutch producer of educational games- i designed two characters and the cover of the box, that explain how this board game works. It was a lot of fun creating this geometric shaped world!

In the gallery i opened a new wall to view samples of the Pet Portraits, including Cat, Dog and Horse portraits. It’s easy to order a portrait of your pet: Contact me by email to share your pictures and stories of your beloved pet. The impression of his personality will be reflected in the portrait. Prices of all sizes are available on request. I can also supply paper and canvas prints.

I designed a Boomerang Card to raise awareness about the human rights situation in Iran. The card also appeared on the website of the Dutch woman magazine VIVA to illustrate the news of the week and will be published in the printed version of the magazine in week 28!

Today i submitted my idea for the design challenge 'under the feet'. Being a real Dutch country girl, the shape of this shoe reminded me of a wooden shoe, so I designed a Dutch girl in traditional costume surrounded by black tulips and clouds. On the toe of the shoe; a print of an old fashion checkered fabric that you find on tablecloths and curtains in farmhouses in Holland. 'Go funky farmer girl!'

Hi all! I just returned from an amazing week in Berlin attending the 3rd Pictoplasma Festival: the world's first ever large-scale presentation and celebration of character design. After two days strolling along the galleries of Berlin, three days of conferences at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt and watching the coolest motion graphics at the Animation Festival it was time to go home and create my own magic again. It was great to meet some of the most inspiring artists in the field and share the love for character design! Lights on Warmoesstraat

This holiday season the street lights that Coolpuk designed in collaboration with Toko73 finally light the streets! The Warmoesstraat is one of the oldest streets of Amsterdam and the gateway to the famous Red Light District. The street’s business association wanted to see the wares it sells reflected in its seasonal lighting, and therefore ordered the manufacturing of lights in the shape of condoms, handcuffs, magic mushrooms and so on. The lighting idea was the result of a competition held by the business association and won by Toko 73 and Coolpuk, who also came up with a new logo.

Shopping with kids became super cool at Cool & Blits! This summer i designed two characters which you can see larger-then-life outside the shop in Breda. Whenever you are in the city, visit Jessica and see her beautiful collection of branded clothing for babies and children.

The funky school diary which Coolpuk designed on assignment of Stationaryteam for the Dutch music magazine Hitkrant is in stores now! Both parts are so pleased with the results that Coolpuk will start to work on the next Hitkrant agenda soon!
Design Dutch olympic mascot

Kunstenaars&CO (Artist Association) was looking for artists that could design the official mascot of the Dutch Olympic Team and the Dutch Paralympic Team. Together with Toko 73 Coolpuk submitted a concept for this design contest and they got selected with nine other designers. On november 13th the participants got instructed on olympic training centre Papendal about the requirements of the mascot by president of the Dutch olympic committee Erica Terpstra and atleeth Rutger Smith. The ten submitted designs have been judged by a market research: the happy blue drop that Coolpuk and Toko73 created ended in forth place!

The Warmoesstraat entrepreneurs together with the artists association wrote out a contest for artists, with the aim to design the festive lighting and logo for the street. Toko 73 and Coolpuk joined forces again and based on their spectacular proposal they have been asked to design the festive lighting and logo for this colorful street!

Amsterdam RAI (International Exhibition and Congress Center) and DOOP (agency for creative marketing concepts) organise the ZomerKik a creative event for kids age 4-14. Coolpuk was honored with the request to design a character for this event. After the development of the character KIK in collaboration with the DOOP agency, Coolpuk designed the ZomerKiK logo and made several drawings that will show up at the event.
Character design for XXXS Amsterdam

XXXS is the website for all teenagers in Amsterdam to inform and inspire them about movies, music, sports, going out and free time. With the special XXXS-card they get a reduction on all kind of cultural activities and events.
Coolpuk won the pitch to design a powerful mascot for the XXXS-card. Not only did Coolpuk design the black and white character that will be used as a logo-type, she also drew a couple of friends that will support him on the website. From the different proposals the teenagers of XXXS choose this character, that was named IXY by a competition on the xxxs-site.
